Congress Legislative Party Leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized the Maharashtra state government in the Legislative Assembly. He highlighted concerns including students’ scholarships, Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s finances, stamp duty scam, smart meters, land grabbing, and irregularities in SRA and AMRUT schemes. Wadettiwar accused the government of installing smart meters forcefully despite claims to the contrary.
He raised complaints of inflated electricity bills causing distress to citizens across the state. Wadettiwar demanded independent district status for Brahmapuri and urged immediate government intervention. Additionally, he brought attention to a student in Australia facing financial crisis due to delayed scholarship funds, leading to a suicide attempt.
Wadettiwar questioned the significant drop in BMC’s fixed deposits and criticized the lack of basic safety measures during the monsoon season. He called for high-level inquiries into various sectors, including the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link Project and illegal industries on government lands. The Congress leader demanded investigations into irregularities in schemes like Kothrud SRA and TDR scams, emphasizing the need for accountability.
