In response to the cancellation of her Rajya Sabha nomination from Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan claimed that the Returning Officers were under government influence. Natarajan, the sole Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh, faced objections from the BJP, citing her alleged concealment of information about a case in a Telangana court.
Expressing her concerns, Natarajan highlighted the challenges faced by Congress leaders not only from the opposition but also from compromised institutions. She criticized the government’s role in the nomination process, accusing the returning officers of bias and acting as government representatives.
Natarajan further criticized the BJP-led Central government, accusing the returning officers of being compromised and working in favor of the government. The Election Commission of India is set to meet with a Congress delegation to address the objections raised regarding Natarajan’s nomination, reflecting the ongoing dispute.
The Congress leader emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional values and expressed hope that decisions would be made based on the principles of democracy and constitutionality. Natarajan’s nomination faced objections related to allegations made by a former corporate executive, which she dismissed as a political conspiracy aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
