A controversy has arisen in Maharashtra’s Jalna district following a video from a school’s annual day function that went viral on social media. The video depicted students allegedly performing to a contentious song while holding mock swords. This incident has sparked a police investigation and garnered strong political reactions.
The controversial event occurred at the Kids World English School in Jalna’s Partur, triggering a heated debate about the performance and the props used. Video clips from the school’s annual gathering circulated online, leading to public outcry and calls for action against the school administration.
According to police sources, a complaint was lodged against the school by local leaders, stating that students danced with imitation swords to a controversial song during the performance. Allegations surfaced that the children were dancing to a contentious song, with conflicting reports on whether it was the slogan ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ or a Pakistani tune.
Amid the public outrage and complaints, the Partur police registered a case against the school under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case targets the school’s principal, the school President, a teacher, and the event’s anchor, encompassing sections related to national unity, promoting enmity, and spreading misinformation.
The school administration refuted the allegations, asserting that the performance’s context was distorted online. They clarified that the music used was from a Turkish television series, ‘Ertugrul Ghazi,’ and not a Pakistani song. The school emphasized that the routine was a theatrical performance based on historical drama, featuring harmless prop swords.
