The CPI(M) in Kerala, led by State Secretary M.V. Govindan, will analyze the recent setback faced by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in local body elections. Despite this, Govindan remains optimistic about the LDF’s performance in the upcoming Assembly elections. The party’s vote share increased notably from the last Lok Sabha polls, indicating positive public sentiment towards the state government.
Govindan attributed the setbacks in the local elections to various factors such as local issues, opposition propaganda, communal polarization, and anti-Left media campaigns. He highlighted the need for strategic communication and organizational strengthening to regain lost ground in certain constituencies. The CPI(M) leader also raised concerns about alleged collaboration between the UDF and BJP, suggesting a transfer of votes in specific contests.
The party’s future plans include organizing employment guarantee protection assemblies across 23,000 wards on January 5. Subsequently, door-to-door campaigns will be conducted from January 15 to 22 to showcase the state government’s achievements and criticize the Center’s alleged neglect of Kerala. The campaign will conclude with protests and a vehicle rally in February.
