State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar emphasized the importance of electing the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader in Karnataka before addressing other matters regarding the new Chief Minister and government formation. He met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi to seek blessings and is considered a strong candidate for the Chief Minister’s position. Shivakumar’s public statement came after discussions with Congress High Command leaders in Delhi, following Siddaramaiah’s resignation as Chief Minister.
Shivakumar disclosed that a CLP meeting is set for Saturday evening in Bengaluru, with all party MLAs instructed to be present. The meeting’s timing aligns with directives from Congress high command leaders, although details on the swearing-in ceremony and Cabinet formation remain undisclosed for now. Earlier interactions included discussions with Congress MPs, MLAs, and former Minister K.J. George, as well as a CLP meeting called by Siddaramaiah to elect a new leader.
