Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has introduced a new angle to the political discussions in Madhya Pradesh by declaring a “non-political” padyatra from Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple to Ayodhya on October 2. The aim is to advocate for transparency in donations for the construction of the Ram Temple.
Singh plans to initiate the padyatra on Gandhi Jayanti from Mahakal Temple and conclude it in Ayodhya. He intends to file a case in Ayodhya to investigate the utilization of donations made for the Ram Temple. This move comes amidst an ongoing probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into allegations of theft of donations and valuables from the temple.
Addressing concerns about financial transparency, Singh emphasized the importance of accountability in institutions handling religious donations. He also expressed his intention to take legal action if financial irregularities are found in the use of his donation for the temple.
Singh’s decision to embark on the Mahakal-to-Ayodhya padyatra and demand accountability in Ram Temple donations is poised to shift the focus of political discourse in Madhya Pradesh. This move is expected to redirect attention from the Congress’ criticism of the government to the issue of transparency in religious contributions.
