The Defence Ministry announced that DRDO has finished the final trials of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 in Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air modes near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the successful development trials of ULPGM-V3 for anti-tank and airborne target roles, calling it a significant step towards self-reliance in defense. The trials utilized an integrated Ground Control System to operate the ULPGM weapon system efficiently.
DRDO collaborated with Bharat Dynamics Limited and Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Limited for the production of the missiles. The ULPGM system has been incorporated into UAVs developed by Newspace Research and Technologies for the current trials. The missile, developed by Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad along with other DRDO labs, has been entirely manufactured within the Indian defense ecosystem involving numerous MSMEs and industries.
The trials confirmed a fully developed domestic supply chain ready for mass production. Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, congratulated all teams involved in the successful trials.
