Elon Musk’s X Corp has acknowledged the presence of obscene imagery on its platform, mainly created by its Grok AI. The company has stated its commitment to comply with Indian laws and remove such content. Around 3,500 pieces of content have been blocked, and over 600 accounts have been deleted by the platform.
X Corp, which operates the social media platform X, submitted a written response to the Indian Government regarding the generation of “non-consensual sexual content by its Grok AI chatbot.” The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) took action against X Corp for its failure to prevent the circulation of obscene, nude, and indecent content on its platform.
In response to the government’s notice, X Corp has pledged to prevent the generation and circulation of unlawful content. The company has been directed to conduct a comprehensive review of Grok’s technical and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with the law. X Corp emphasized its commitment to taking action against illegal content, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Elon Musk also warned that individuals using Grok to create illegal content will face consequences similar to those for uploading such content. X Corp affirmed its cooperation with local governments and law enforcement agencies to address illegal content on its platform.
