A joint operation by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Khagaria Police resulted in an encounter with a well-known criminal in Sukhay Basa village under Beldaur police station limits. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. during raids to apprehend wanted criminals. Mohammad Buddin, the suspect, sustained injuries during the exchange of fire and was promptly taken to Khagaria Sadar Hospital for treatment under tight police security.
More than 15 criminal cases, including murder, robbery, extortion, and arms-related offenses, are filed against Mohammad Buddin across various police stations. He had been evading arrest despite being on the police’s radar for some time. Additionally, he had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head due to his alleged involvement in serious criminal activities in the region.
Authorities disclosed that Buddin’s criminal network had been active in parts of Khagaria, posing a significant challenge to law enforcement. Acting on specific intelligence, the STF and district police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Beldaur area, leading to the encounter.
Following the incident, senior district officials, including the Superintendent of Police and other key personnel, arrived at the scene. An extensive search operation is underway to locate Buddin’s suspected associates, with raids ongoing at suspected hideouts. Security has been heightened at the hospital where Buddin is being treated, with additional police deployed for protection.
