The first Cabinet expansion of the Bihar government, led by Samrat Choudhary, occurred at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Notably, Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, was inducted as a Minister in the Cabinet, putting an end to speculations about his role in the government.
Two other leaders, Santosh Kumar Suman and Nitish Mishra, sons of former Chief Ministers, also took the oath of office. While Nishant Kumar joined the Janata Dal-United recently, Santosh Kumar Suman made a comeback to the Bihar government, having previously served in Nitish Kumar’s Cabinet. Nitish Mishra, son of former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, was also appointed as a Minister, having served in the government before but not as a Minister.
The swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan showcased the strength of the BJP-led NDA, with top Union Ministers and alliance partners’ leadership present. Following Nitish Kumar’s resignation as Chief Minister and subsequent election to the Rajya Sabha, a BJP-led government was formed in Bihar for the first time, with Samrat Chaudhary assuming the role of Chief Minister. The new Ministers are yet to be assigned their respective portfolios.
