Fresh allegations of sexual assault have surfaced against former Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla, who is currently in judicial custody for a bomb blast case. Two women have come forward to share their traumatic experiences of rape and torture allegedly inflicted by the politician and his associates in the past.
One of the women revealed that she was raped for a year by Saokat Molla and his associates in the Jibantala area of South 24 Parganas district. She claimed that her son was kidnapped and held captive for a year, and she was coerced to meet the Trinamool leader who raped her using her child as leverage.
The victim stated outside a Kolkata court that the incident occurred in March 2019 when her son was abducted by Saokat Molla. She recounted enduring continuous torture for a year, mentioning that she was threatened and forced to comply with his demands, leading to a year-long cycle of abuse.
Despite seeking help from the administration at the time, the victim received no assistance. She expressed fear for her safety, alleging that she and others are still under surveillance by Saokat’s associates who continue to threaten them with harm.
The victims have now decided to file a complaint, as in the past, no action could be taken against Saokat Molla. Their lawyer highlighted the organized nature of the crimes, where women were targeted on specific days, coerced into meeting Saokat Molla, and subjected to various forms of abuse and threats.
