Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi criticized the Congress and MLA Imran Khedawala for allegedly trying to influence voters during local body elections. Sanghavi emphasized the importance of high voter turnout, calling the elections the “biggest festival of democracy.”
Khedawala had urged voters to oppose government decisions, referencing actions like “bulldozer politics.” Sanghavi accused the Opposition of making concerted efforts to influence the electoral process through religious appeals and divisive tactics.
Polling in Gujarat, covering over 10,000 seats, was held under tight security measures. Sanghavi highlighted the arrangements made to facilitate a smooth voting process, urging citizens to participate actively to safeguard democracy.
Authorities in Ahmedabad ensured provisions like drinking water and medical aid at polling stations, addressing challenges posed by high temperatures. Sanghavi urged voters to spend a few minutes casting their votes, emphasizing the significance of active participation in the democratic process.
Referring to allegations of intimidation and public prayers, Sanghavi warned against attempts to polarize voters. He stressed the need for voters to comprehend such tactics and engage actively in the electoral process to uphold democratic values.
