Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi praised the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiniyam (Act)’ during a gathering in Vadodara. This act mandates a 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies, aiming to enhance women’s involvement in political leadership. Sanghavi emphasized that this move would allow women from ordinary families to participate in Parliament, breaking the dominance of political dynasties.
He highlighted that the legislation marks a significant shift by promoting the inclusion of women from diverse backgrounds in elected bodies. Sanghavi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing this initiative, recognizing the historical reverence for women in Indian society. He viewed this reform as a crucial step towards broader female representation in governance and decision-making processes.
Sanghavi also unveiled various development projects for Vadodara, including the construction of a 75-meter ring road to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, plans were outlined for enhancing urban facilities like sports complexes, swimming pools, and public infrastructure. The initiatives aim to provide better amenities for residents and visitors, with a focus on improving civic infrastructure and public spaces.
In terms of governance, Sanghavi mentioned strengthening the Disturbed Areas Act to ensure better enforcement for public order and citizen protection. He criticized the opposition, citing past allegations of electronic voting machine tampering following electoral defeats. Sanghavi likened the ruling party and the people of Gujarat to a ‘large joint family,’ emphasizing unity and collective action for progress.
