The Gujarat Director General of Police, Dr. K.L.N. Rao, will visit the border regions of Kutch district on February 21-22 to evaluate security arrangements for villages near the India-Pakistan border and the district’s coastline. Dr. Rao is set to lead a high-level crime conference in Bhuj, attended by senior officials from the Indian Army, BSF, Coast Guard, and Air Force. The focus of the meeting will be on improving coordination to tackle issues like cross-border infiltration and illicit activities.
During the visit, Dr. Rao will inspect security deployments in key coastal areas like Jakhau and Pingleshwar, and hold discussions with marine police and field personnel. He will also assess the welfare facilities and morale of officers stationed in remote regions. This initiative aims to strengthen security along the land and maritime borders in a region that demands continuous vigilance by multiple security agencies.
In a similar effort last November, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, along with 30 senior IPS officers, reviewed border villages in Kutch. The visit involved interactions with local leaders and residents to understand social, economic, and infrastructural conditions. Discussions with BSF officials were also held to evaluate patrol operations and engage with the community to address their concerns effectively.
These visits by state leaders underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures while actively engaging with border communities in Kutch.
