Hyderabad Toofans made a remarkable comeback to defeat Ranchi Royals 3-2 in the Men’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL) 2025-26 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, Egmore. Tom Boon scored twice for Ranchi Royals, but goals from Amandeep Lakra, Nic Woods, and Talwinder Singh secured the win for Hyderabad Toofans.
The match began with Hyderabad Toofans dominating possession in the first quarter. Despite Ranchi Royals taking the lead through Tom Boon’s goals, the Toofans fought back with several chances of their own. However, they couldn’t find the equalizer before the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Tom Boon extended Ranchi Royals’ lead with his second goal. Hyderabad Toofans responded with strong attacking play but failed to convert their opportunities. The first half concluded with Ranchi Royals leading 2-0.
Hyderabad Toofans started the second half with renewed attacking intent and managed to pull a goal back through Amandeep Lakra’s dragflick. Nic Woods then leveled the score, setting the stage for a tense final quarter. With momentum on their side, Hyderabad Toofans completed the comeback with Talwinder Singh’s late goal, securing a thrilling victory.
