In 2025, Indian Railways conducted a large-scale special train operation for Maha Kumbh, with 17,340 special train trips between January 13 and February 28, 2025, to assist numerous pilgrims. Additionally, during Holi from March 1 to March 22, 2025, 1,144 special train trips were operated, almost double the number from the previous year, enhancing travel convenience during the festive period.
The summer travel season of 2025, from April 1 to June 30, witnessed 12,417 Summer Special train trips, ensuring quality service during peak vacation months. Moreover, for Chhath Puja 2025, 12,383 special train trips were run between October 1 and November 30, 2025, a significant increase compared to the previous year, emphasizing the Railways’ commitment to enhanced arrangements.
In 2025, Indian Railways built upon the strong operational foundation laid in 2024. Noteworthy initiatives in 2024 included 326 special circular train trips for Aastha Special services and 604 special train trips during Holi to manage festive rush. The summer season of 2024 saw 12,919 Summer Special train trips, while Chhath Puja 2024 arrangements included 7,990 special train trips between October 1 and December 31, 2024.
