After India’s win against New Zealand, fast bowler Harshit Rana shared that the team aims to develop him as an all-rounder, focusing on enhancing his batting skills for the No. 8 position. In the match, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli’s partnership, along with contributions from Shreyas Iyer, Rana, and KL Rahul, secured India’s victory while chasing 301 runs.
Rana, batting at No. 7 ahead of Washington Sunder, played a crucial role by scoring 29 runs off 23 balls during the chase. He expressed his commitment to improving as an all-rounder, emphasizing his belief in contributing 30-40 runs when batting lower in the order, as per the team management’s expectations.
Reflecting on the game, Rana highlighted the strong start by New Zealand’s openers Conway and Nicholls, followed by Mitchell’s aggressive innings. Despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Indian bowlers, led by Siraj, contained the opposition’s scoring. Rana addressed the early wicket-taking challenges, noting the team’s adaptability to different phases in ODI cricket based on pitch conditions.
