India’s pacer Prasidh Krishna expressed his joy after achieving his first five-wicket haul in the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai. His exceptional bowling performance, including swing, seam, and bounce, led to Afghanistan’s early struggle at 36/4. Despite a partnership between Shahidi and Omarzai, Afghanistan collapsed for 218 runs, with Prasidh finishing with figures of 5-23.
Prasidh, in a post-match interview, shared his satisfaction with his performance on a challenging day. He became only the third Indian bowler, alongside Prabhakar and Shami, to dismiss all top five opposition batsmen in an ODI. His remarkable figures also set a new record for the best bowling performance in ODIs at Chennai, surpassing Rampaul’s 5-51 in 2011.
Reflecting on his bowling strategy, Prasidh credited his consistent efforts to bowl fuller lengths, a technique he has been refining with the team’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel. Despite the draining conditions at Chepauk, Prasidh acknowledged his fatigue but emphasized the team’s collective effort in delivering a strong performance on a challenging day.
