India’s Sarfaraz Khan made history by scoring the fastest fifty by an Indian in List A cricket during Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Punjab. Sarfaraz achieved this milestone in just 15 balls, surpassing the previous record set by Ajith Sheth.
Coming to bat after his brother’s dismissal, Sarfaraz wasted no time, scoring 62 runs off 20 balls, including seven fours and five sixes. Despite his remarkable performance, Mumbai fell short by just one run against Punjab’s total of 216.
Mumbai’s captain Shreyas Iyer also contributed significantly with a score of 45 off 34 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes. Sarfaraz has been in exceptional form this season, emerging as Mumbai’s top run-scorer with 303 runs in six innings at an average of 75.75.
Sarfaraz’s outstanding performance extends to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 329 runs in seven matches, including a century, at a remarkable strike rate of 203.08.
