Following the 2025 Bihar Assembly election outcomes, internal discord has emerged within the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) as eight key leaders have resigned, accusing party chief Upendra Kushwaha of endorsing dynastic politics.
Among the resignees is Anant Kumar Gupta, the State President of the RLM Business Cell, alongside various senior office-bearers and district-level leaders. The rebellion comes in the wake of RLM securing four seats in the recent Assembly elections.
After the party’s performance, Upendra Kushwaha’s wife, Snehlata Kushwaha, won as an MLA, and his son was appointed as a minister in the state cabinet. This development has sparked discontent among senior members who claim that a party initially formed to oppose dynastic politics is now embracing the very practice it criticized.
On Thursday, leaders of the RLM business cell collectively submitted their resignations, dealing a significant blow to the party leadership. The resigning leaders include Anant Kumar Gupta, State President, Business Cell; Umesh Prasad, Senior State Vice President; Shivchandra Prasad, Vice President; Mohanlal, Vice President; Ajay Kumar Bittu, Media In-charge and Spokesperson; Gopal Ji Prasad, General Secretary; Basukinath Gupta, District President, Gopalganj; and Shashi Kishore Sah, District President, Patna East.
Speaking to the media post-resignation, Anant Kumar Gupta stated, “The state committee was dissolved just a week ago. The ideology that drew us to this party has vanished. Maintaining our self-respect, it is no longer tenable to stay in the party.”
