External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy to talk about the latest developments concerning the conflict in West Asia. During the meeting, Jaishankar expressed gratitude to the UAE Government for looking after the Indian community.
The conflict in West Asia began after US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, resulting in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military officials. In response, Iran carried out drone and missile attacks on US and Israeli facilities, regional capitals, and allied forces in West Asia.
Prime Minister Modi had a conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, discussing the ongoing situation in West Asia. Modi reiterated India’s strong condemnation of attacks on the UAE that have led to casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
In a statement, PM Modi emphasized the significance of ensuring safe and unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Both leaders expressed their commitment to collaborating for the prompt restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.
