Karnataka’s Leader of Opposition and veteran BJP leader R. Ashoka criticized the Congress government for delays in assigning Cabinet portfolios, highlighting a lack of focus on governance. Ashoka pointed out that crucial departments like Agriculture and Education are without Ministers during critical decision-making periods. He accused the Congress of prioritizing political bargaining over addressing farmers’ and students’ needs.
The BJP leader raised concerns about the neglect of key issues such as seed availability, crop loans, and education infrastructure due to the absence of dedicated Ministers. Ashoka emphasized that the government’s focus on lucrative portfolios has hindered essential governance functions, impacting the state’s development. He also criticized the handling of Bengaluru’s development portfolios, citing inefficiencies in resource management.
Ashoka described the Cabinet allocation process as a political compromise aimed at resource control rather than effective governance. He highlighted internal conflicts within the Congress, leading to a paralyzed administrative machinery and a lack of attention to public welfare. The BJP leader expressed confidence that Karnataka’s citizens would hold the Congress accountable in future elections for its alleged focus on power and corruption over development.
