The Karnataka BJP expressed strong objection to the Congress-led government’s decision to cancel an event organized by the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Foundation at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). The BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the move, citing political interference in education and urged the government to reverse its decision. He highlighted that an international academic conference named “Ekatma Manava Darshan” had been planned by the foundation at KSOU, with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan set to participate.
The BJP leader accused the state government of abruptly halting the event and serving a notice to the Vice-Chancellor. He condemned this action as “politics of hatred” and criticized the government for obstructing university programs. Vijayendra called on the concerned minister to rectify the error and allow the event to proceed, emphasizing that unnecessary government interference in university affairs was unjust. He labeled the situation as a display of “politics of hatred,” asserting that the government was impeding a university-organized program.
Vijayendra also raised concerns about the state government’s spending, alleging excessive expenditure on advertisements and misuse of taxpayers’ money to compensate Congress workers. He pointed out the financial strain faced by the government, stressing that squandering state funds while struggling to pay employees’ salaries was inappropriate. The BJP leader urged the Chief Minister, who oversees the finance portfolio, to address the issue promptly.
