In a thrilling finale of the Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2025 in Gurugram, Karnataka emerged as champions after a nail-biting Super Over victory against Delhi by just one run. The tournament, organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and supported by Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, showcased exceptional talent and determination among visually impaired cricketers.
Delhi set a formidable target of 216/6 in the final match, with captain Manish Kumar’s explosive 79 off 46 balls and Irfan’s fluent 70 off 44 deliveries leading the charge. In a remarkable chase, Karnataka achieved an impressive 216/0, with Sunil Ramesh’s stunning 145 off 79 balls at a remarkable strike-rate of 183.54, ably supported by Lokesha’s composed 56 off 41 balls.
The intense showdown culminated in a Super Over as the scores tied at 216. Delhi scored 10 runs, but Karnataka, displaying nerves of steel, managed to score 11 runs, securing the title in a dramatic fashion with a one-run victory. Sunil Ramesh was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance.
Sunil Ramesh, along with Sanjay Kumar Shah, Rambir Singh, and others, received accolades for their outstanding contributions throughout the tournament. The championship-winning Karnataka team was awarded ₹1,50,000, emphasizing the growing recognition and professionalism in blind cricket in India.
