The Karnataka Police have established six special teams to investigate the discovery of gelatin sticks along the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy near Bengaluru. Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have interrogated a man named Lohith regarding a threat call made before the PM’s visit and the subsequent gelatin sticks recovery. Lohith was taken into custody shortly after the threat call, and investigations are ongoing.
The Koramangala police detained the accused after he contacted a local resident, and multiple agencies are now intensifying the probe. Officials from various agencies, including the NIA and Bengaluru City Police, participated in questioning Lohith. Investigators have been examining different angles and his background, including his claim of being the son of a former ISRO employee.
During questioning, it was revealed that the accused may be dealing with mental health issues. Lohith repeatedly expressed concerns about the country’s situation, leading investigators to delve deeper into his mental state and the motive behind the threat call. The case is under investigation by six special teams, with authorities examining CCTV footage and gathering information about the gelatin sticks used in quarries in Bengaluru South and Ramanagara regions.
Police suspect that the box containing the explosive materials was placed at the spot during the early hours of the incident. The explosives, including gelatin sticks, detonator sticks, and other items, were found and seized by the police. After thorough security checks, the Prime Minister’s convoy was allowed to proceed along the route.
