Kerala Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar criticized former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for attacking Rahul Gandhi instead of the Centre following an Enforcement Directorate raid at his residence. Anil Kumar questioned Vijayan’s silence towards Prime Minister Modi despite raids by central agencies. He highlighted Vijayan’s avoidance of direct confrontation with the Prime Minister during his tenure.
The tensions escalated as CPI(M) workers were accused of attacking ED officials and CRPF personnel after searches linked to the CMRL-Exalogic case involving Vijayan’s daughter. State Police Chief DGP Ravada Chandrasekhar held a meeting with Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala to review the incident and security arrangements during the ED operation. Police officials assured strict action if any lapses were found in the security measures during the violence.
DGP Chandrasekhar mentioned that 300 police personnel were deployed during the ED raid, with eight arrests made in connection with the violence. Efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspects. The police are analyzing video footage and eyewitness testimonies to understand the attack’s unfolding and assess any failures in crowd control or security coordination.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, currently in Kozhikode, refrained from commenting on both the ED raid and the attack despite media inquiries. The Centre did not request a separate report on the violence from Kerala Police, even with the involvement of ED officials and central security personnel.
