Kite flyers from around the world are looking forward to the International Kite Festival (IKF) in Gujarat. Participants praised the warm atmosphere and expressed their excitement for the upcoming celebrations.
Spini Marshall, a kite flyer from London, shared his positive experiences in India, highlighting the hospitality and festive decorations. Rumy from Lebanon described the festival as the “best in the world.”
Participants like Sun from Turkey expressed eagerness about their first visit to India and the unique kites they brought, featuring famous characters like Tom and Jerry. The event, part of the traditional Uttarayan celebrations, marks Makar Sankranti, a significant Hindu festival.
The festival, organized by the Gujarat Tourism Department, will run from January 10 to January 14, attracting kite flyers and visitors globally. Various cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara, will host the festivities, welcoming participants from countries such as Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Workshops on kite-making and flying are also scheduled, offering children and tourists a chance to engage with the tradition.
