Madhya Pradesh Police have reported a significant breakthrough, uncovering a large-scale gambling setup at a farmhouse in Mhow, Indore district. During a raid at Kothi Niwas farmhouse in Ambalipura village, 18 individuals were apprehended red-handed, with over Rs 1.36 lakh in cash seized along with playing cards and mobile phones. The farmhouse, owned by senior IAS officer Vandana Vaidya, currently serves as the Managing Director of the Finance Development Corporation in Indore.
Police shared that upon receiving a tip-off, they swiftly acted to raid the farmhouse during the early hours of Wednesday. Despite some individuals managing to escape in the darkness, a significant number were caught in the act. The police team, led by Manpur SHO Lokendra Hiror, cordoned off the area and successfully arrested the accused, with an ongoing search for those who fled.
Lokendra Hiror mentioned that the police encountered a locked main gate upon arrival at the farmhouse but proceeded to enter from the rear after hearing activity inside. The arrested individuals, including the caretaker Arun, are currently under investigation. It was revealed that Vandana Vaidya had appointed Arun as the caretaker, and efforts are underway to locate him for questioning. Despite attempts to reach Vandana Vaidya for comment, no response was received at the time of publishing.
