Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal criticized the budget presented by the Narendra Modi government, stating it resembles previous budgets and lacks focus on social classes. He accused the budget of manipulating figures and lacking a clear direction, especially regarding employment generation and support for farmers.
Sapkal highlighted the adverse impact of demonetization and GST on small, medium, and large enterprises, noting a lack of substantial development or support in the budget. He expressed disappointment in the government’s failure to address unemployment and investment issues, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The Congress President emphasized the government’s inability to tackle farmers’ challenges effectively, citing unmet income doubling targets, rising farming costs, and inadequate price support decisions. He criticized the government’s poverty alleviation claims, pointing out persistent poverty levels and the absence of effective measures to control inflation and wealth inequality.
