West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee emphasized the importance of “holy harmony” among people during the celebrations of Dol Yatra and Holi. She shared a message on social media, quoting a song by Rabindranath Tagore that highlights how these festivals foster unity and togetherness. Banerjee extended her warm wishes to everyone on the occasion of Dol Jatra, hoping for peace and harmony to prevail.
The Dol Yatra festivities coincided with Gaur Purnima and the birth anniversary of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. In another social media post, the Chief Minister urged the people of West Bengal to draw inspiration from the teachings of Sri Chaitanya Dev, emphasizing the values of unity and humanity. She highlighted how his love for all individuals, regardless of background, played a pivotal role in uniting people and fostering equality.
Banerjee called on the public to uphold the legacy of Sri Chaitanyadev by preserving the traditions of secularism and tolerance. She also outlined the government’s efforts in developing Navadwip, the birthplace of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, into a ‘Heritage Town’. Notably, the state government has allocated 700 acres of land for the construction of a pilgrimage city in Mayapur dedicated to ISKCON.
Leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, also extended his wishes to the people on the occasion of Dol Yatra and Holi. He conveyed his greetings for a joyous Dol Purnima and a festive Holi celebration through a brief social media message.
