A tragic incident occurred on the Indore-Dewas stretch in Madhya Pradesh, where a 29-year-old man, identified as Prashant Singh from Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, lost his life after being struck by a speeding bus late Thursday night. Prashant, who had come to Dewas with three companions for work, was hit by the bus in the Shipra police station area around 11 p.m. as he was re-entering their vehicle.
Local reports suggest Prashant Singh may have had a connection to a Union Minister, although this is yet to be officially confirmed by the police. The group had paused near Shipra when the accident occurred, resulting in severe head injuries to Prashant. Despite being rushed to Aurobindo Hospital in Indore, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, revealing that the bus driver, who allegedly failed to stop after the collision, fled the scene with the vehicle. Efforts are underway to track down the bus and identify the driver, with police teams formed for this purpose. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scrutinized to piece together the events leading up to the accident.
Senior police and administrative officials swiftly responded to the situation, with a post-mortem examination carried out during the night following necessary permissions. BJP leaders, including Sonkatch MLA Rajesh Sonkar, visited the hospital to offer condolences to the grieving family members. The deceased’s body is scheduled to be flown to Delhi before being transported to Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, for the final rites, pending further actions once the bus and driver are located and questioned.
