Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh reiterated his government’s dedication to enhancing technical education infrastructure and ensuring the prompt commencement of academic activities at the proposed extension campus of Manipur Technical University (MTU) in Heirok, Thoubal district.
During his visit, the Chief Minister assessed the development of the MTU extension campus, emphasizing that the project is nearing completion, particularly the laboratory buildings and engineering workshop. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress and anticipated the operational launch of the institution soon.
The site, initially designated for Heirok Engineering College under MTU, was repurposed as an extension campus of the university. Chief Minister Singh instructed the Public Works Department Chief Engineer to asphalt the six-kilometre road linking the campus to National Highway-102 (Imphal-Moreh Road) and confirmed plans for constructing boundary walls, drains, and footpaths within the campus.
MTU Vice-Chancellor W. Chandbabu Singh informed the Chief Minister about the university’s intention to commence academic classes at the extension campus from the upcoming academic session in July-August. Chief Minister Singh also addressed issues concerning water and electricity supply at the campus, assuring improvements soon.
