Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla highlighted Manipur’s role in India’s freedom movement, especially through the Indian National Army (INA). He emphasized the state’s commitment to patriotism and national service. The Governor attended the Parakram Diwas 2026 event at the INA War Museum-cum-Library in Moirang, Bishnupur district, to honor Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 129th birth anniversary.
Recalling the INA’s historic hoisting of the tricolour in Moirang in 1944, the Governor praised the courage and sacrifice of that moment. He connected Netaji’s ideals to India’s current vision, emphasizing values like courage, discipline, unity, and selfless service. Bhalla stressed the importance of empowered youth in driving India’s development and self-reliance, urging them to contribute responsibly to the nation.
The Governor highlighted the need for collective efforts inspired by the freedom movement’s legacy. He encouraged citizens to contribute with integrity and dedication for inclusive growth and a forward-looking India. Bhalla also flagged off the North East Integration Rally convoy and shared a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Parakram Diwas, underscoring the event’s national significance.
Prime Minister Modi, in his message, praised Netaji’s courage and patriotism, noting his leadership’s enduring inspiration. He mentioned the 75th anniversary of the Azad Hind government’s establishment at the Red Fort and the unfurling of the Tricolour in Sri Vijayapuram. At INA Moirang, the Governor led floral tributes to Netaji’s statue and planted a U-Thambal tree. The event included cultural performances reflecting Manipur’s identity by various artist groups.
