Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to address crucial state matters. The meeting, which took place after the formation of a new government in Manipur under Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, focused on security issues and efforts to restore normalcy in the state. Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary, briefed Shah on Manipur’s security situation, ongoing initiatives to rehabilitate Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and joint operations by security forces to address security challenges.
Efforts are being made to implement confidence-building measures among affected communities to foster trust and ensure long-term peace in Manipur. Chief Minister Khemchand Singh, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, also met with the Union Home Minister to discuss various issues, including IDP rehabilitation. The new government’s initiatives to promote harmony and peace by bridging community divides were reviewed during the meeting.
During his visit to the national capital, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh engaged with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who pledged full central support for the development of national and state highways in Manipur. Singh’s interactions with various Union Ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focused on the government’s efforts to restore peace and harmony in the state and address key issues affecting Manipur’s development and stability.
