Australia’s Mitchell Starc is set to make a mark in the final match of the Ashes 2025-26 series on January 4 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. With 26 wickets in four matches at an impressive average, he stands just six wickets away from becoming the most successful left-arm bowler in Test cricket.
Starc, aged 35, has been in exceptional form during the ongoing series, earning the Player of the Match title in both the Perth and Brisbane Tests. His outstanding performance has been unmatched, with no other bowler reaching the 20-wicket milestone.
Having debuted in 2011 against New Zealand, Starc has since taken 428 wickets in 104 matches, boasting a bowling average of 26.43. With 18 five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket match hauls to his name, he is on the brink of surpassing former Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath’s record of 433 wickets.
Starc’s stellar year in 2025 saw him secure 55 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 17.32. Opting to retire from T20 internationals to focus on Test cricket, he remains committed to T20 Leagues like IPL and BBL, representing the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026.
