Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav praised the diverse culture of Northeast India, calling it a vibrant mix of traditions. He highlighted the presence of various tribes in the region, each with its unique languages, attire, music, dances, and customs, showcasing the area’s distinct heritage. Governor Yadav, also the Chairman of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), participated in the inaugural “Uttar-Poorv Janjatiya Basant Utsav” in Guwahati, emphasizing the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge and cultural identity amidst modernization.
Expressing optimism about the festival’s future, Governor Yadav lauded the Northeast’s tribal traditions as a unifying and developmental cultural force. He envisioned the event growing in scale and significance over time, celebrating the vibrant spirit and rich traditions of the Northeastern region. Acknowledging the festival’s distinguished guests, including Guru Jatin Goswami and Guru Drona Bhuyan, among others, he appreciated their contributions to art, culture, and society.
Governor Yadav underscored the festival’s symbolic representation of spring’s arrival and unity in diversity, emphasizing its role in showcasing and celebrating the region’s rich heritage. He described Basant Utsav as a symbol of renewal, hope, and harmony, reflecting the deep bond between nature and culture cherished by tribal communities.
