In response to inquiries regarding Universal immunisation coverage, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel mentioned that as of February 8, there were 11.12 crore children and 3.78 crore pregnant women registered on the U-WIN portal. Beneficiaries can obtain a QR code-based vaccination certificate from the U-WIN portal after each vaccination event. In 2025, around 8.01 crore beneficiaries were registered in U-WIN, and digital QR code-based certificates were issued to them.
A total of 29.42 crore SMSs, including reminder messages, were dispatched to beneficiaries in 2025 from the U-WIN portal nationwide. U-WIN has facilitated the identification of children due for vaccination, enabling regular follow-ups through SMS alerts to ensure they receive their required doses. The platform also records their vaccinations for the completion of routine immunization.
To enhance healthcare service delivery, U-WIN is currently linked with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), POSHAN Tracker, and SAFEVAC online platforms. Responding to a query on medical education, Patel highlighted an increase of 48,563 MBBS seats and 29,080 PG seats in the country from the Academic Year 2020-21 to 2025-26. Additionally, the government has sanctioned the addition of 10,023 medical seats in government colleges under centrally-sponsored schemes from the fiscal year 2025-26 to 2028-29. The expansion of medical seats aims to address the healthcare workforce shortage, particularly in underserved areas, and impact the doctor-population ratio across states positively.
