Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the new Amrit Bharat train services between Podanur (Coimbatore) and Dhanbad (Jharkhand), passing through various locations in Odisha. The Chief Minister highlighted that these services will significantly enhance railway connectivity in the state, benefiting seven districts across southern and western Odisha, including key cities in Tamil Nadu and industrial centers in Jharkhand. The initiative is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and contribute to Odisha’s economic development.
The new Amrit Bharat train service is set to provide direct rail links to important cities in Tamil Nadu like Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Salem, as well as industrial hubs in Jharkhand such as Ranchi, Bokaro, and Dhanbad. Chief Minister Majhi noted that this service will strengthen economic and social linkages, benefiting passengers from western and southern Odisha. He also mentioned that the Central government’s commitment to enhancing railway infrastructure and fostering development in Odisha is reflected through this initiative.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Chief Minister Majhi about the approval for the new Amrit Bharat train services in a letter. The introduction of this service is expected to bring significant benefits to passengers in western and southern Odisha, providing easier travel options to southern India and other parts of the country. It will particularly assist students, workers, business people, and regular travelers within these regions.
