Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, criticized Congress for calling a special session in Karnataka to oppose the Viksit Bharat Guarantee Rozgar Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G). The Congress-led government extended the session to discuss the introduction of VB-G RAM G and the scrapping of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (MGNREGA). Narayanaswamy highlighted Congress’s objection to the use of the term “Ram” in the scheme’s name.
Narayanaswamy clarified that the acronym of Viksit Bharat Guarantee Rozgar Ajeevika Mission forms “RAM,” symbolizing the emergence of Ram within the scheme. Under the VB-G RAM G scheme, the employment period has been extended to 125 days, with workers performing manual labor and receiving wages directly in their bank accounts. The scheme aims to enhance rural livelihoods through asset creation, but Congress is reportedly against it.
Narayanaswamy also accused Congress legislators of disrespecting the Governor during a recent incident in the House. He alleged that Congress members protested against the Governor and criticized BJP for opposing any mistreatment of the Governor. Narayanaswamy condemned Congress MLC B.K. Hariprasad for his remarks and behavior, stating that BJP members demanded an apology from him for his conduct.
