Raijor Dal President and Sivasagar MLA, Akhil Gogoi, revealed that opposition parties in Assam are joining forces to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Assembly elections. A meeting of opposition leaders took place at Orchid Park in Golaghat to discuss strategies for the electoral battle.
Akhil Gogoi emphasized the consensus to nominate Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi as the Chief Ministerial candidate. He mentioned the participation of seven political parties in the meeting, aiming to present a united front against the BJP in the polls.
The opposition’s focus remains on dethroning the current BJP government in Assam, with allegations against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for divisive statements. The unity among opposition parties signals a significant political contest in the state, with efforts to bring together people from all communities for a collective cause.
