Rajasthan’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel announced the temporary postponement of the Pachpadra Refinery inauguration due to technical reasons following a leakage incident at the facility. The inauguration, which was to be done by PM Modi, was deferred as a precautionary measure. Minister Patel revealed that the incident occurred around 1:55 p.m. when a leakage was detected within the refinery premises.
Technical teams and officials from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited promptly responded to the situation, bringing it under control by approximately 2:45 p.m. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, with Patel crediting the swift and coordinated response of officials for averting a major accident. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the refinery site, inspecting both the technical systems and security arrangements during his visit.
During the inspection, Chief Minister Sharma interacted with fire safety personnel and control room staff, praising the efficiency of the response teams and commending the alertness and courage of women officials during the emergency. Minister Patel clarified that the refinery, spread over a large area, sustained limited damage confined to a specific section. He mentioned that expert teams from other refineries are being called in for assistance, with a comprehensive investigation planned to identify the root cause and prevent future incidents.
Assuring that repair work is ongoing, Minister Patel stated that the refinery will commence commercial operations as scheduled once all technical issues are resolved. Continuous monitoring by administrative and technical teams is being conducted to uphold safety standards. Patel highlighted the refinery as a significant industrial milestone, equipped with modern technology that will contribute to regional development and create job opportunities in Rajasthan.
