Pakistan captain Fatima Sana expressed confidence in her fitness for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against India, following a minor knee injury in a training session. The 24-year-old all-rounder, hit on the knee during practice, reassured that the injury was not severe. Sana, struck by a shot from teammate Ayesha Zafar, stated, “I think it is good now,” during a pre-match press conference.
The injury update comes as Pakistan readies for a crucial match in the tournament. Despite their history in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan is yet to secure a win. The competition, now expanded to 12 teams, poses a significant challenge for the team. Pakistan’s track record against India in Women’s T20Is highlights the tough task ahead, with only one victory against India in the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup out of nine meetings.
Sana remains optimistic about her team’s chances, emphasizing the importance of a strong start and the emergence of young talents.
