Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased India’s expertise in traditional medicine by presenting Nagauri Ashwagandha, a high-quality variety from Rajasthan, to global leaders at the G7 Summit in France. This specific type of Ashwagandha, with rich withanolide content, is recognized with a Geographical Indication tag and holds cultural and agricultural significance.
Ashwagandha, valued in Ayurveda for its health benefits, is known for supporting vitality, mental clarity, immunity, and overall well-being. Nagauri Ashwagandha, in particular, integrates traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific research and global wellness trends, benefiting rural livelihoods.
In addition to Nagauri Ashwagandha, PM Modi gifted Ramban honey from Jammu and Kashmir and Banarasi silk stoles at the summit. Ramban honey, produced in the Chenab Valley, is esteemed for its natural antioxidants and nutritional profile, reflecting the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage. Banarasi silk stoles, handwoven in Varanasi, symbolize India’s rich textile tradition and support the livelihoods of weaving communities.
India, as a partner country at the 52nd G7 Summit, engaged in discussions on important issues with global leaders. This marked India’s 13th participation at the summit and PM Modi’s seventh consecutive attendance.
