The leaders focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanged perspectives on current geopolitical issues. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and other officials were also present during the meeting.
The two leaders greeted each other warmly before the talks, with PM Modi being honored with a military salute. Following the meeting, they are set to participate in a working lunch with key representatives from major Italian and Indian industrial sectors. PM Modi’s agenda also includes a visit to the Food and Agriculture Organisation before concluding his trip to Italy.
During his last visit to Italy in June 2024 for the Group of Seven Summit, PM Modi met Italian President Sergio Matarella to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, including trade, investment, and cultural ties. The leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, critical minerals, space, and nuclear energy.
PM Modi also attended a dinner hosted by Giorgia Meloni, where they shared insights on enhancing the India-Italy friendship. The visit included a visit to the iconic Colosseum in Rome, symbolizing the cultural exchange between the two nations. Meloni warmly welcomed PM Modi to Italy, emphasizing the importance of their discussions in strengthening bilateral ties.
