Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a bilateral meeting with Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir in Oslo. The meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other officials. PM Modi, on a two-day visit to Norway, is set to participate in the third India-Nordic Summit and conduct bilateral discussions.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced that the Summit aims to enhance India’s ties with Nordic countries, focusing on technology, innovation, green transition, renewable energy, sustainability, defense, space, and the Arctic. PM Modi also participated in the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, emphasizing the growing economic collaboration following the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement’s implementation.
During his visit, PM Modi met with King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo to discuss the increasing cooperation between Indian and Norwegian companies, especially in emerging technologies. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Norway’s natural beauty and highlighted the strengthening friendship between the two nations based on shared values of democracy, rule of law, and people-centric governance.
King Harald hosted a luncheon in honor of PM Modi, who was bestowed with Norway’s highest civilian honor for foreign Heads of Government, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.
