Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to guide over 12 crore citizens in a National Mass Pledge Against Drug Abuse on August 18. The initiative marks the sixth anniversary of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ (NMBA). The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will organize this nationwide pledge through both physical and online modes.
A coordination meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Joint Secretary (Drug Prevention) Sandeep Rewaji Rathod, discussed strategies to ensure the active participation of citizens. Representatives from various Ministries and departments collaborated to finalize the implementation plan. The focus was on mobilizing officers, officials, students, parents, volunteers, and other stakeholders for the pledge.
The meeting emphasized the role of Line Ministries and Departments in engaging citizens nationwide. Plans include organizing pledge ceremonies in various offices, educational institutions, and social organizations. Nodal officers will coordinate with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment for effective outreach and reporting mechanisms. The initiative aims to combat drug addiction and promote responsible behavior among individuals.
