One police constable lost his life, and two others were wounded in a rocket attack on a police vehicle in Kangar Jan Bahadur, Bannu city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. The attack occurred as the police personnel were returning to the police lines from the Fateh Khel checkpoint. Constable Raza Ali Shah was fatally injured, while the two wounded officers received medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The assailants not only launched a rocket attack on the police vehicle but also engaged in subsequent firing and explosions, prompting the closure of Miryan Road for traffic. Following the attack, security forces sealed off the area and initiated a search and combing operation to locate the perpetrators.
This incident adds to a series of attacks on law enforcement in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recently, a police head constable was killed in a similar attack on a checkpost in the Huramzai area of Pishin district, Balochistan, where armed assailants opened fire on the police post, leading to a fatal exchange of gunfire.
In another tragic event, two Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were fatally shot by unidentified assailants while shopping at a local market in Kuram Garhi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attackers, arriving on a motorcycle, swiftly carried out the attack and managed to escape.
On a separate occasion, an assistant sub-inspector of the Elite Force, Bacha Yousaf Khan, was gunned down by unknown gunmen outside his residence in Mano Banda, Gandigar, Upper Dir district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Khan succumbed to his injuries, marking yet another tragic loss in the line of duty.
