In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, police conducted a special operation in the Gaighat police station area, seizing a significant amount of illegal foreign liquor and apprehending a pickup truck driver just before Holi. Acting on specific intelligence, the police set up a checkpoint on the Darbhanga–Muzaffarpur main road and intercepted a suspicious pickup truck, discovering 744 liters of foreign liquor inside.
The Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police, Kantesh Kumar Mishra, confirmed the seizure, emphasizing that it was based on reliable information, with investigations ongoing to determine the liquor’s source and intended destination. Authorities have vowed to take strict action against those involved in illegal liquor activities, particularly during festive periods. The crackdown has reportedly unsettled illicit liquor operators in the region.
Earlier, in a separate incident on February 28, Patna Police uncovered nearly 480 liters of foreign liquor during a raid in the Ghasiyari Gali area under Khajekalan Police Station limits. Following a specific tip-off, a swift operation was carried out, leading to the seizure and causing alarm among liquor smugglers in the area. Preliminary investigations have exposed a suspected interstate liquor smuggling network.
