President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose and made several appointments and transfers of Governors and Lt Governors in various states and Union Territories. Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla is now the Governor of Telangana, while Jishnu Dev Varma will take over as Governor of Maharashtra. Nand Kishore Yadav, a senior BJP leader and former Bihar minister, has been appointed as the Governor of Nagaland, and retired Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain will serve as the Governor of Bihar.
R.N. Ravi, the current Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal following Bose’s resignation. Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will act as the Governor of Tamil Nadu until further arrangements are made. In Union Territories, Ladakh Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta is now the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi Lt Governor V.K. Saxena has been appointed as the L-G of Ladakh.
Former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, has been appointed as the Delhi L-G. These appointments will come into effect when the appointees assume their new roles. Earlier, West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose resigned ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, with Mamata Banerjee claiming that the news was confirmed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
