He emphasized that the Bill intended to grant long-overdue rights to women without taking away rights from anyone. The Prime Minister highlighted that the amendment aimed to provide fair representation to women in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, removing longstanding barriers to their progress.
Prime Minister Modi described the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ Amendment as a significant initiative, comparing it to a sacred “Maha Yagna” conducted with sincerity and clear purpose. He emphasized that the amendment not only offered new opportunities to women in 21st-century India but also aimed to eliminate obstacles hindering their advancement. The Prime Minister stressed that the amendment would integrate women as equal partners in the country’s development journey, promoting inclusivity across all sections of society.
Expressing disappointment over the Opposition’s response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and DMK of obstructing the Bill, which he described as “brutally killing” the effort. He criticized these parties for acting against the spirit of the Constitution and the interests of women by impeding the legislation. The Prime Minister noted that historically, the Congress has opposed women’s reservation and consistently created obstacles whenever such initiatives were proposed.
